The role of Aircraft Ramp Agent is fundamental to the smooth functioning of airport ground operations. In this capacity, you will be responsible for loading, unloading, servicing, guiding, and directing customer aircraft safely on the ramp. You will safeguard customers' baggage, air cargo, and airmail against weather conditions, loss, theft, damage, and destruction. Your duties will include lifting, loading, unloading, sorting, and transferring passenger baggage and company materials in and out of aircraft bins, belt loaders, or baggage carts while maintaining safety at all times. Operating pushback equipment responsibly, with the assistance of wing walkers, is a key part of ensuring aircraft are moved safely away from gates.
Additional responsibilities include receiving and recording customer baggage, airfreight, mail, and company materials, as well as transporting these items between aircraft and terminals. You will also operate or drive various motorized equipment, such as belt loaders, air start units, lift trucks, pushback tugs, and carts used for bags and lavatories. Completion of paperwork and data entry into the company's information systems is a necessary part of the position, ensuring accurate tracking and reporting of all ground operations. The role demands physical stamina to lift heavy items regularly and perform activities such as walking, climbing, bending, and stooping throughout extended work periods.
This position requires meeting strict safety standards and completing ramp and Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) training to obtain airport authority identification and security clearance. Candidates must comply with federal employment and security regulations, including passing background checks and drug screenings. - Must be a local (in-state) resident
- valid in-state driver's license
- ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen
- ability to pass up to a 10-year background check
- must be at least 18 years of age
- must have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986
- must complete ramp and SIDA training to obtain airport authority identification security
- must be able to lift/carry/push/pull and move items of 70 pounds and/or more on a regular basis
- must be able to walk, climb, bend, kneel, crawl, and stoop on a frequent basis and for extended periods
- must be able to work in cramped or high places
- must be able to carry heavy items up and down jet way stairs
- high school diploma or GED
