The role of Service Porter at AutoNation is pivotal in maintaining the high standards of vehicle service and customer care the company upholds. As a Service Porter, you will be entrusted with a variety of duties that enhance the customer experience and contribute to the smooth operation of the service department. This position involves assisting with service write-ups and efficiently tagging customer vehicles to ensure accurate tracking and handling throughout the service process. You will also be responsible for removing protective coverings and identification tags from vehicles before they are returned to customers, while carefully inspecting them for any stains, debris, or damages and reporting issues promptly. Transportation is another key component of the Service Porter role, including driving customers and dealership staff as needed and performing deliveries to ensure operational efficiency. Maintaining the cleanliness of both new and used vehicles, as well as the vehicle lot, is essential; this involves following dealership display standards to keep the area neat and orderly. Additionally, the Service Porter manages vehicle keys, retrieves and delivers vehicles to storage areas, and collects parts from the Parts Department. Routine tasks also include testing vehicle batteries in the service drive and assisting with shop clean-up and general maintenance of the building and grounds. This role requires a responsible and detail-oriented individual with excellent customer service skills, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to safely operate both automatic and manual transmission vehicles. • High school diploma or equivalent
• 6-12 months of previous work experience (preferred)
• Ability to read and comprehend written instructions and information
