The role of General Manager (GM) at Ulta Beauty embodies leadership, accountability, and a passion for the beauty industry. The GM is responsible for all aspects of store management including operations, sales, expense control, and compliance with company policies and standards. Strategically, the General Manager drives the store’s business by promoting a culture of accountability and operational excellence. This includes meeting and exceeding sales targets, managing store payroll effectively, controlling shrinkage, and ensuring exceptional guest loyalty. In addition, the GM actively participates in selling activities, performing makeup applications, skincare analyses, and product demonstrations to enhance the guest experience and drive sales. Staying current with beauty industry trends and product knowledge is a vital part of this role to serve customers effectively. When it comes to people management, the GM plays a critical role in recruiting, hiring, and retaining a diverse and talented team while fostering an inclusive and engaging work environment. The GM ensures the professional development of both managers and associates through training, coaching, competency-based feedback, performance reviews, and succession planning. Process management is equally important where the GM ensures compliance with company policies, scheduling efficiency, inventory control, loss prevention, and workplace safety. The compensation for this role ranges from $40.00 to $54.00 per hour, with the opportunity for additional earnings through eligibility in the company's bonus plan.
