The Pastry Cook position is a full-time, non-management role with hourly compensation set at $21.88. This role is especially suited for individuals with pastry experience and a background in hotels, bringing culinary skills to a team-driven environment. The pastry cook plays a critical role in the Food and Beverage & Culinary department, responsible for preparing and cooking food carefully according to recipes and quality standards. This includes following food prep checklists meticulously, preparing ingredients through portioning and chopping, and using baking tools and appliances safely and effectively.
The position demands a high level of attention to detail and adherence to food safety protocols, including personal hygiene procedures and sanitation standards. The pastry cook is expected to maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen, monitor the quality and portions of food served throughout shifts, and ensure the proper operation of kitchen appliances by checking temperatures and reporting any potential issues to management.
This role requires physical stamina as well, involving lifting and moving items up to 25 pounds, standing or walking for extended periods, as well as occasional bending and twisting. The pastry cook must be able to work independently and as part of a team, always maintaining professional communication and upholding company policies. While supervisory experience is not required, candidates should be willing to support the team to achieve shared goals.
Preferred qualifications include a high school diploma or GED equivalent, with less than one year of related work experience. Although no licenses or certifications are mandatory, experience in hotel kitchens and pastry preparation is essential.
