We are currently seeking a qualified Customs Entry Writer to join our Customs Brokerage Department at our Miami GTWY, FL location. This role is vital within our operations as it involves ensuring compliance with federal and foreign trade regulations pertaining to the shipment, receipt, and payment of duties to US Customs and Border Protection. The Customs Entry Writer will be responsible for accurately classifying imported merchandise, calculating tariffs, and processing necessary government documentation to clear freight shipments efficiently. Additionally, this position requires regular communication with various US government agencies such as the FDA, US Agriculture, and Fish and Wildlife Services to acquire necessary permits and resolve any clearance delays. The Customs Entry Writer must demonstrate a strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and time management capabilities, as the nature of the work demands meticulous examination of commercial invoices, bills of lading, and other shipment documents. Proficiency in using online portals for customs documentation submission and a working knowledge of US Customs regulations, including Foreign Trade Agreements and duty exemptions, are essential. This role also supports the Billing Department to ensure timely payment of duties and handle escalations related to duty disputes with importers, thereby playing a key part in maintaining compliance and avoiding penalties.
