Air Traffic Control Specialist - Quick Hire!
Posted on October 24, 2025
The hiring establishment is a specialized Air Traffic Control facility that operates a Visual Flight Rules (VFR) Air Traffic Control Tower, focused on managing the safe and orderly flow of air traffic within controlled airspace. This facility plays a critical role in aviation safety, ensuring that both departing and arriving aircraft are guided efficiently through the airport's airspace and ground operations. Working within such a critical infrastructure requires a team of dedicated air traffic controllers who possess not only technical knowledge but also sound decision-making capabilities under pressure.
The role available is that of an Air Traffic Controller responsible for directing air traffic within and around the airspace of the airport to maintain orderly and expeditious flows of aircraft. This position operates under the general supervision of the Tower Manager but demands a high degree of independence to make quick, precise decisions involving aircraft sequencing, runway utilization, and navigation aid monitoring. Controllers in this role determine the sequence of departures and arrivals, ensure separation between IFR and VFR flights, monitor and adjust communication frequencies as necessary, and coordinate with other control facilities to maintain airspace safety and efficiency.
This is a demanding position requiring acute attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to maintain situational awareness in a dynamic environment. Controllers are tasked with controlling aircraft using radar equipment, managing communications, and operating controls for light and field signals to assist pilots when necessary. In many cases, they must also provide guidance to pilots who may be disoriented, lost, or experiencing difficulty, coordinating additional support services such as fire and ambulance if needed. Due to the critical responsibilities, meticulous observation of weather conditions and their impact on air traffic operations is also a key component of the role.
The employment type is typically full-time with the stipulated pay rate of $43.18 per hour. The position requires the individual to possess a Control Tower Operator (CTO) Certificate alongside a current Class II Medical Certificate. These credentials attest to the controller's qualifications and medical fitness to perform demanding air traffic control duties. The role also adheres to stringent drug and alcohol testing policies in line with DOT and FAA regulations, emphasizing safety and reliability.
