The company is known for its dedication to excellence, innovation, and integrity, providing opportunities for professional growth within a dynamic and challenging environment. SAIC emphasizes a collaborative work culture, ensuring that employees are empowered to make meaningful contributions and advance their careers. SAIC Controller Training Solutions (CTS) operates under this umbrella delivering vital air traffic controller training services to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). SAIC CTS is focused on providing comprehensive instructional support, ensuring that air traffic controllers maintain the highest standards of proficiency and safety within the National Airspace System (NAS). The Billings ATCT / TRACON facility in Billings, Montana provides a key training location where instructors work directly with developing professionals to enhance their skills and knowledge. This role is a full-time, day shift position based on-site, with no travel or remote work options, emphasizing the importance of hands-on, face-to-face interaction in delivering tailored and effective training. The Air Traffic Control Instructor position at SAIC CTS is pivotal in ensuring that both new and experienced air traffic controllers receive the highest quality simulation and classroom training. As a CTS Instructor, you will be responsible for utilizing current air traffic control automation and simulation systems to deliver instruction that meets rigorous FAA standards. The candidate must engage in mentoring trainees and Remote Pilot Operators (RPOs), play an active role in curriculum design, and contribute to the continuous improvement of training methodologies. Additionally, the role demands obtaining relevant radar and/or non-radar simulation laboratory certifications at FAA facilities nationally. This position calls for a candidate with a solid background of at least five years as a FAA Certified Professional Controller (CPC) or equivalent experience as a contract instructor at an FAA facility, particularly in an environment comparable to the Billings ATCT / TRACON level of operations. The instructor must excel in managing diverse student groups ranging from developmental controllers to fully certified professionals, ensuring training content is effectively delivered to enhance safety, proficiency, and compliance with FAA policies. The FAA’s mission to maintain the safety of over 50,000 daily flights within the NAS underscores the critical nature of this role. In aligning with FAA training objectives, SAIC CTS instructors must demonstrate excellent technical aptitude with several ATC simulation platforms, including TSS, AT Coach, and SGET, among others. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential to interface with FAA personnel across various levels, ensuring training programs are responsive to operational needs and standards. Moreover, the successful candidate should embody a student-oriented training approach, utilizing proven teaching techniques and classroom management skills to foster continuous professional development. This opportunity offers a meaningful career path for those dedicated to aviation safety and training excellence. Earnings for retirees under the Federal Employees Retirement System (FERS) working as an ATC Instructor for this program are exempt from the supplemental annuity earnings limits for retirees aged 56 to 62, providing added financial benefits. SAIC encourages candidates who are committed to the FAA’s air traffic control mission and have the necessary certifications and operational experience to apply for this impactful role that ensures the continued safety and efficacy of the NAS.
