The Air Tactical Pilot role at Amentum is a crucial position based at one of CAL FIRE's remote bases, where pilots are assigned by bid and may reposition existing employees within the classification structure based on seniority per company policies. Pilots are entrusted with maneuvering multi-engine and turbine-powered airplanes, often performing demanding tasks including night flying under instrument conditions and operating aerial firefighting missions as pilot-in-command or co-pilot. Candidates must meet stringent experience requirements, with a minimum of 1,800 total airplane flight hours and specific logged hours in multi-engine, mountain flying, instrument flying (both total and actual), night flying, and experience in make and model to be flown. Additional qualifications include aerial firefighting experience and multi-engine airplane (AME) flight hours above specified weight thresholds, including turbine-powered aircraft.
