The Air Medical Dispatch role with Banner Air at Banner Health is a critical position centered in the Corporate Mesa office. This role involves dispatching and coordinating flight crews who provide essential 24-hour critical care services to patients across Arizona. The dispatcher serves as the pivotal communication link between flight medical teams, pilots, hospital facilities, and emergency agencies, ensuring timely, accurate, and efficient medical transport responses. As a Communications Specialist, the dispatcher implements established protocols in line with FAA regulations and medical transport standards, ensuring all operations operate with compliance and safety. Ideal candidates will possess or obtain required certifications including Med Trans Corp Part 135 training and certification within the first six months of hire, American Heart Association CPR certification, and flight-following certification through the International Association of Medical Transport Communication Specialists (IAMTCS). Prior experience in dispatching—whether for 911, medical, flight, or EMS settings—is preferred, along with familiarity with health unit coordination or placement systems. The role demands excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, computer literacy across common office software and specialized applications, and the ability to make sound decisions under pressure. The working schedule follows a Pitman shift pattern, providing varied working hours to ensure round-the-clock coverage for critical patient transport logistics.
