This summer internship opportunity is designed for undergraduate civil engineering students with a passion for transportation engineering, particularly within the railroad and mass transit industry. The successful candidate will join TKDA’s Rail team in San Bernardino, California, and gain hands-on experience by supporting ongoing projects alongside experienced civil engineers and technicians. Interns will assist in developing preliminary and final designs using industry-standard software such as AutoCAD and Civil 3D and will perform calculations relating to project dimensions, elevations, earthwork, utilities, and track quantities. Additionally, they will aid in site assessments, surveys, and construction administration tasks that provide real-time feedback on project progress and help identify challenges during construction. This role not only enhances technical competencies but also fosters communication and teamwork skills by providing regular opportunities to engage with other team members and clients. The internship spans mid-May to mid-August 2026, requiring a commitment to a 40-hour workweek with occasional overtime.
