The Patient Escort-Valet Parking position involves a wide variety of responsibilities that focus on patient and guest interactions while adhering to strict safety protocols. The role requires safely driving valet parked vehicles, performing assigned valet parking duties, and greeting patients and guests as they arrive. A significant portion of the job involves transporting and assisting ambulatory and non-ambulatory patients to various locations such as clinics, inpatient units, and procedure areas using wheelchairs, beds, stretchers, or by walking with the individuals. Maintaining and delivering wheelchairs to designated areas is also a key responsibility. Beyond transportation assistance, the role includes problem-solving when service recovery is needed and helping patients and guests with their questions or directions inside the facility. Occasionally, the employee might operate motorized transportation carts, handle guest service dispatch duties, deliver movable medical equipment, clean and store equipment, or drive a late evening shuttle. Strict compliance with UI Fleet Safety Driving Record Review Standards is mandatory for this position. This demanding yet rewarding role requires the ability to regularly move heavy weights, sometimes exceeding 250 lbs, and involves working both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions. The employee must be physically capable of standing or moving for extended periods.
