The position available is for a Classroom Support Staff/Paraeducator at Ella Baker Elementary School. This role operates on a 180-day working calendar, requiring a commitment of 3 hours per day from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm, although shifts are subject to change to better suit school needs. Compensation for this role is competitive, with an hourly rate of $28.07, and the position is eligible for membership in the Teamsters Local Union No. 763, part of the Lake Washington School District Trades Bargaining Council No. 763.
The Classroom Support Staff/Paraeducator plays a crucial role in the educational setting by providing direct assistance to teachers during individualized and small group instruction. The paraeducator supports students across all educational levels, particularly focusing on those with physical, behavioral, or medical challenges. The position demands a compassionate individual adept at fostering daily living skills and behavioral competencies, as well as supporting students with special health care needs. Beyond direct student support, the paraeducator assists staff in classroom preparation, managing supplies, and handling equipment.
