Reporting to the Area Manager, the Food Service Worker plays a vital role in food preparation, cooking, serving, and maintaining sanitary conditions in food service areas. The position requires flexibility as assignments may change daily based on staff vacancies and district needs, requiring travel to multiple school kitchens across Detroit. In this role, the Food Service Worker supports the district's mission to provide healthy, accessible meals to students by assisting with food preparation and service while adhering to strict USDA and district guidelines. They contribute to all aspects of food service, including prepping fresh, canned, dry, and frozen foods, serving meals during cafeteria service, and managing waste removal and cleaning duties.
