The Sonesta Denver Downtown is currently seeking an Engineer to join their Engineering department. This is a non-exempt, hourly position with a pay range of $24.00 to $25.00 per hour. The role reports directly to the Director of Engineering. The Engineer plays a crucial role in maintaining the appearance, functionality, and safety of the hotel property, going above and beyond to ensure a seamless guest experience. This position involves both routine maintenance and skilled repairs on various types of building infrastructure and equipment. The Engineer will work extensively in both the interior and exterior areas of the hotel, performing tasks related to plumbing, electrical systems, HVAC, carpentry, and refrigeration, among others. The role requires a diverse skill set to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain the hotel's facilities, ensuring everything remains in optimal working condition. Beyond technical skills, the Engineer provides attentive and courteous service to hotel guests, assisting them with inquiries and helping to create a memorable stay. This role is vital in supporting Sonesta's overall mission to 'wow every guest' by ensuring a comfortable, safe, and functional environment. The work environment includes exposure to varying temperatures and both indoor and outdoor settings, with some opportunities for guest interaction. Physical demands are significant, requiring the ability to lift heavy objects, engage in frequent bending, kneeling, climbing, stooping, and the stamina to stand for the entire shift. Work hours may vary and include weekends, holidays, and shifts of ten to twelve hours. Candidates should possess specialized knowledge or certification in relevant trades like plumbing, electrical work, carpentry, or HVAC. Experience in the hospitality industry or a related field is preferred. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong organizational capabilities, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities effectively.   • Specialized knowledge and skills or certification within a field or discipline such as plumbing, electrician, carpentry, equipment mechanics, HVAC, refrigeration
  • Trade school and/or college coursework in related field preferred
  • Experience in a hotel or related field preferred
  • Ability to exert in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently and/or in excess of 20 pounds constantly to lift, carry, push or pull objects
  • Frequent bending, kneeling, climbing, stooping and reaching
  • Ability to stand during entire shift
  • Must be flexible to work variable days including weekends and holidays
