The Travel Operations Lead role at Metrea Management represents a critical position within Metrea’s global shared services group. This group provides comprehensive support in areas such as People, Finance, Legal, Strategy, and Information Technology to enable the success of Metrea’s operational capabilities. As Travel Operations Lead, you will be responsible for managing all facets of travel coordination and expense reporting for Metrea’s defense programs. Your expertise in navigating the Joint Travel Regulations (JTR), proficiency in CONCUR travel and expense management system, and thorough knowledge of Travel Authorization Request (TAR) processes will be essential to ensure seamless travel operations. This position demands keen organizational skills, attention to detail, and strong leadership capabilities as you will also supervise a small team of travel coordinators or support staff. In this role, the Travel Operations Lead will serve as the primary liaison for all travel-related activities, ensuring compliance with regulatory frameworks and internal policies. This includes booking, tracking, and reconciling travel expenses, approving and auditing expense reports for accuracy and proper documentation, and collaborating closely with finance and program teams to maintain budget alignment and facilitate timely reimbursements. Besides managing day-to-day operations, you will play a strategic part by analyzing travel data and trends to identify cost-saving opportunities and optimize travel strategies. Negotiating vendor contracts to secure favorable terms and reduced rates will also be part of your responsibilities. Leadership and team development are key components of this role, requiring you to coach, mentor, provide performance feedback, and support professional growth within your team. The successful candidate will bring more than seven years of experience in travel operations, a proven track record of managing travel logistics in a government or defense-related environment, and the ability to work effectively both independently and in a hybrid collaborative setting.
