The position available at Opaa! Food Management is critical to ensuring the delivery of high-quality meal service within school cafeterias and catering events. This role involves preparing breakfast and lunch offerings following company recipes and menu plans, assisting with serving lines, and participating in occasional catering functions. Employees in this role are expected to perform various kitchen positions and contribute to the overall cleanliness, safety, and efficiency of the food service environment. The role serves as a frontline position in food production, with a strong emphasis on food safety, compliance with nutritional guidelines, and excellent customer service.
Team members will be responsible for assisting with the setup and maintenance of serving lines, ensuring all food items are held at proper temperatures to meet safety standards. This includes managing milk coolers and other refrigerated items to readiness for service. The role requires operating kitchen equipment such as slicers, mixers, and grinders with proper certification and following batch cooking procedures to maintain consistent product quality and presentation. Employees must adhere to First In/First Out (FIFO) inventory management practices to minimize waste and maintain stock organization.
In addition to food preparation and service, the position requires maintaining a clean and organized workspace, including kitchen areas, dishwashing stations, and serving lines. Attention to detail in monitoring chemical usage and equipment maintenance is crucial for safety and operational efficiency. Administrative duties include handling customer payments, running cash registers or computer systems, completing paperwork on daily production records, tray counts, meal reconciliation, and timekeeping using ADP or manual tracking.
Physical demands of the role include standing, walking, lifting up to 25 pounds frequently, and occasionally exerting force over 60 pounds. The position requires good vision skills for tasks such as focusing on close objects and color discrimination. Working conditions vary between indoor and outdoor settings, with exposure to mechanical parts, heat, humidity, noise, and occasional contact with chemicals.
