The position available involves key responsibilities in the area of packing and shipping at the company's facility. The role focuses on assembling skids or boxes for packing and shipping customer orders, ensuring all packages meet rigorous quality standards and are prepared for safe and timely delivery. Employees in this role utilize various tools such as crosscut saws, miter saws, nail guns, staple guns, and banding equipment to build appropriate packing materials. The role involves careful adherence to AMI's packing and preservation policies to maintain the integrity of all shipments.
Additionally, the role requires performing quality inspections on orders to ensure 100% quality standards, accurately marking and stenciling shipping information according to customer and AMI procedures, and maintaining all assigned equipment through regular maintenance and record-keeping. Emphasizing safety and cleanliness, the role demands adherence to company safety and quality policies as well as active participation in Total Quality Management (TQM) and Statistical Process Control (SPC) meetings.
Physical demands include the ability to stand or sit in a stationary position for extended periods, walk and move within the facility, handle tools manually with dexterity, climb stairs or ladders, and perform various physical movements such as stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, pushing, pulling, and repetitive motions. The job requires exerting medium to heavy work, with up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and frequently, and up to 20 pounds constantly to move objects.
This role is ideal for individuals with a high school diploma or GED who possess basic language, math, and reasoning skills, and who are physically capable of meeting the job demands. Forklift certification is preferred but not required. Candidates should be willing to work irregular hours as needed and be committed to contributing to AMI Metals' reputation for outstanding quality and service within the aerospace materials industry.
