The Volunteer Coordinator role is a pivotal position within the Arts and Culture Department, tasked with planning, developing, coordinating, and implementing comprehensive volunteer programs involving over 200 volunteers. This professional classification requires managing all facets of volunteer engagement and administration, including recruitment, selection, training, supervision, placement, and recognition of volunteers. The role is essential in fostering a dynamic volunteer community that supports multiple facets of the Mesa Arts Center, including theaters, teaching artists, festivals, special events, campus tours, the Mesa Contemporary Arts Museum, and various administrative functions.
This position demands a strategic and hands-on leader capable of collaborating effectively across diverse divisions. The Volunteer Coordinator will ensure volunteers receive proper training and orientation, maintain strong relationships with volunteers through timely communication, and continuously seek innovative ways to promote and expand volunteer engagement. Operational responsibilities include tracking key volunteer metrics, managing appreciation events, and serving as the Event Manager on Duty during events, underscoring the importance of leadership and responsiveness.
Work hours are primarily Monday through Friday, with flexibility required for irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, reflecting the nature of events at the Mesa Arts Center.
