HMC is currently seeking a Server for High Tea at Hotel deLuxe in Portland, OR. This role offers an exciting opportunity to be part of a refined and elegant hospitality experience at Gracie's, the hotel's renowned venue for traditional High Tea service. The Server for High Tea is essential in crafting an atmosphere of warmth, sophistication, and personalized care, blending classic service etiquette with genuine hospitality. This position emphasizes creating memorable guest interactions through attentive service and meticulous attention to detail.
As a High Tea Server, the individual will be responsible for delivering a polished and gracious service that reflects the timeless elegance of Gracie's. This includes setting and maintaining beautifully presented tea tables featuring tiered trays, fine china, and condiments that embody Hotel deLuxe's aesthetic. Candidates will present tea selections, pastries, and savories confidently and enthusiastically, assisting guests in selecting pairings tailored to their preferences. Preparation and serving of tea will follow precise steeping and presentation standards, while maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of tea varieties, pastries, seasonal offerings, and dietary accommodations.
The position requires close collaboration with kitchen staff to ensure flawless presentation and timing of service. Maintaining cleanliness, organization, and adherence to safety and sanitation standards are paramount. Additionally, the Server will support team members to contribute to a welcoming, smooth-running dining environment. Prompt and professional handling of guest concerns and feedback is expected, as is helping with special event setup and breakdown when necessary. Familiarity with menu abbreviations, ingredients, and strict adherence to service standards rounds out the comprehensive responsibilities of this role.
Ideal candidates will have previous experience in fine dining, boutique hotel settings, or afternoon tea service. Strong command of traditional tea service etiquette, excellent communication skills, poise, and the ability to multitask under pressure are essential. A professional appearance and demeanor aligned with Hotel deLuxe and Gracie's standards are required, as are dependability, honesty, and adaptability. Willingness to learn and accept direction with constructive feedback will foster ongoing growth. Knowledge of food, beverages, garnishes, menu timing, and general food and beverage operations is desired, alongside valid Food Handler's Card and, if applicable, OLCC/Alcohol Service Permit. Physical requirements include the ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds, stand and walk for extended periods, and frequently bend, reach, and handle delicate tableware.
