The role of UAS Test Pilot at Flock Safety presents a unique opportunity to be at the forefront of drone technology as a first responder tool. This position, based at the company's Riverside, California facility, will require up to 40% domestic travel to engage in testing, training, demonstrations, and operational deployments. The UAS Test Pilot is responsible for piloting drones for various purposes, including hardware testing, product demonstrations, training, and supporting the Drone as First Responder (DFR) programs. The role involves ensuring the reliability and performance of drone hardware and software, working closely with engineering and product teams to identify potential improvements, and providing detailed test feedback.
Key responsibilities also include logistics management such as coordinating shipping, storage, hardware maintenance, and inventory management for drone components. The UAS Test Pilot actively participates in research and development by investigating emerging drone technologies and integrating new methodologies into operational workflows. This role involves significant technical support duties, including troubleshooting drone hardware and software issues, creating technical documentation and training materials, and ensuring full FAA compliance and adherence to safety protocols. Additionally, the position requires customer interaction during demonstrations and training engagements to provide expert guidance on drone technology capabilities.
Physically, the role demands stamina and the ability to work outdoors extensively, as well as handling equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. It requires strong communication skills and an ability to work independently while collaborating within a startup team environment. Flock Safety offers a starting base salary ranging from $70,000 to $85,000 based on experience, education, and market factors, alongside stock options.
