We are currently seeking a skilled Transportation Manager to join our Germantown team. This full-time role offers a competitive salary range of $63,700.00 to $79,612.00 annually under the SAM 37 job grade. The Transportation Manager position involves comprehensive administrative and operational oversight of transportation functions within SEPTA Access, specifically covering Contract Operations and the Germantown District. This role is crucial in ensuring the smooth and safe operation of transit services, focusing on service management, staff supervision, and compliance with policy and safety regulations. As a Transportation Manager, you will be responsible for managing service quality including accident prevention and investigation, maintaining on-time performance and schedule headways, addressing and resolving customer complaints, and promoting accessibility for passengers with disabilities. You will troubleshoot minor mechanical issues to sustain service continuity and maintain detailed records, including those related to employee attendance and payroll using systems like Mainframe CAPES payroll and Trapeze Ops. A significant aspect of the role involves managing workforce logistics, such as coordinating staff schedules, tracking leave usage, and minimizing overtime costs to optimize resource utilization. You will also play a key role in maintaining safety protocols, investigating rule violations, workplace injuries, and potential substance abuse incidents, and submitting thorough reports to higher management. The role requires strong interaction with various stakeholders, including local businesses, government agencies, and the public, to maintain positive relationships and effective communication. In addition, the Transportation Manager acts as a liaison between the Control Center, Service Managers, and other entities to ensure convenient and uninterrupted service for customers. Enforcement of Authority policies and collective bargaining agreements is imperative, and the manager will assume leadership responsibilities in the absence of directors or operations managers, ensuring continuity and operational stability. This position demands a proactive approach to safety, equity in employee treatment, and the ability to perform other assigned duties as necessary. This role is ideal for an individual with a strong supervisory background in the mass transit industry, who possesses advanced management and communication skills, including clear report writing and proficiency in basic math. The successful candidate must also be physically capable of performing demanding tasks, such as shoveling snow and handling heavy materials.
