The Transport Communication Specialist - Children'sOne is a vital member of this dedicated Flight Team, entrusted with the critical responsibility of coordinating safe and efficient transportation for patients and families. This full-time position involves working 36 hours per week with shifts scheduled to cover both day and night operations, ensuring that emergency medical transports are handled with immediacy and precision. The role demands the use of advanced communication and dispatch technologies such as Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) systems, telecommunications equipment, mapping and flight tracking software, and weather and traffic monitoring tools. Additionally, specialists monitor remote video surveillance of helipads to maintain operational safety.
This role emphasizes strong communication and customer service skills, as the specialist acts as the primary liaison between patients, families, flight medical crews, pilots, and program leadership. Coordinating air and ground resources while considering patient needs and mission priorities calls for a calm, organized individual capable of managing high-pressure situations with professionalism and empathy. The specialist is also responsible for logging accurate transport data, tracking vehicles and personnel, and collaborating with multiple air medical programs regionally to guarantee a smooth and secure transfer process.
The Transport Communication Specialist supports the administrative and operational aspects of Children'sOne transport missions, including managing transport requests, handling cancellations or declines with alternative solutions, and participating in quality assurance activities. The position involves interaction with a variety of internal committees and requires commitment to compliance with the Commission on Accreditation of Medical Transport Systems (CAMTS) standards, underscoring the organization's dedication to maintaining the highest levels of safety and quality.
