The Airport Maintenance Worker position within the Airfield Maintenance division plays a crucial role in maintaining the airport’s infrastructure and ensuring safety. This full-time role starts at $24.91 per hour, with additional wages for overtime and night shift differentials available, reflecting the demanding nature of airport operations which run around the clock. The airport maintenance worker is responsible for a wide range of semi-skilled tasks related to the upkeep and repair of airport facilities and equipment. This includes maintaining airport buildings, grounds, roadways, runways, taxiways, and ramp areas to ensure they are safe, clear of hazards, and in excellent condition. This role requires the employee to operate various types of motor and heavy equipment, including plows, front loaders, skid steers, sweepers, dump trucks, tractors, and sanders. Snow removal is a critical function, making the role essential during winter months to keep the airport operational and safe. The maintenance worker is also tasked with general groundskeeping duties such as grass cutting, shrub trimming, weeding, brush clearing, and painting or cleaning surfaces. The job demands physical stamina and the ability to work any shift due to the 24/7 nature of airport operations, including being on call to respond to emergencies. In this role, the worker will assist trades staff with specialized maintenance tasks, inspect and repair pavement markings, operate radios to communicate with the FAA tower, and respond to emergencies including equipment failures and hazardous incidents. A strong understanding of safety regulations and proficient use of radio communication are vital components of the job. The successful candidate must be capable of working collaboratively and professionally with a diverse group of colleagues, tenants, vendors, and the public.   • Two years of experience working at a commercial airport for promotional candidates
  • One year of maintenance work or part-time equivalent in building or mechanical trades for open non-competitive candidates
  • One year of maintenance work or part-time equivalent in property maintenance, landscaping, or snow-plowing for open non-competitive candidates
  • One year of driving a CDL vehicle or part-time equivalent for open non-competitive candidates
  • Possession or permit to obtain a valid Class A or B commercial driver's license with appropriate endorsements at time of appointment
  • Must obtain valid Class A or B CDL within 12 months of appointment
  • Ability to work any shift including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to pass pre-employment background check, security clearance, and drug test
