The Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) Department at Navy Installations Command (CNIC) on Naval Air Station (NAS) Corpus Christi, TX, is a key provider of community recreation programs and services designed to support the well-being and quality of life of Navy service members, their families, and the greater community. This particular role is integral to the success of the Community Recreation Division's mission, as the incumbent will manage and administer a comprehensive recreation program situated in the ITT office. The position responsibilities involve the planning, promotion, and implementation of a variety of MWR Community Recreation activities, ensuring that programs meet the needs and expectations of the community while adhering to CNIC guidelines and objectives. The role demands strong program planning and leadership skills to devise recreation offerings that stimulate sustained interest and provide social value to participants. This person will serve as a community liaison, representing the department while fostering partnerships through various MWR agreements and maintaining accurate databases to support smooth program operations.
Candidates for this position should bring specialized experience that blends education, relevant work experience, and exceptional customer service capabilities. A bachelor's degree in recreation, marketing, business, or a closely related field is preferred but may be substituted by an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. This role demands the candidate to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and communicate effectively both orally and in writing, making it critical for the candidate to demonstrate proficiency in these areas. Knowledge of recreational programs, event planning, entertainment, and community needs is essential to successfully execute the duties of the role.
The candidate must be adept at organizing, planning, and conducting a wide spectrum of activities designed to serve both individuals and group demographics with varying interests and ages. The ability to sustain participant engagement through innovative leisure programming and deliver effective promotions will be a key factor in the role’s success. Additionally, this position requires maintaining a clear and accurate record of all activities and events delivered, alongside representing the department in front of diverse audiences, from small groups to larger community gatherings. The candidate will be expected to uphold federal employment standards, complete verification processes, and comply with federal directives including, but not limited to, selectee suitability for employment, probationary periods, and secure access to government facilities with required identification.
