The City of Overland Park is currently seeking a full-time Supervisor for Visitor Services and Events to join the management team at the Deanna Rose Children's Farmstead. This role is critical to ensuring an outstanding visitor experience at the Farmstead by overseeing front-of-house operations such as guest services, ticketing, memberships, rentals, and birthday parties. The Supervisor will directly manage and support the team responsible for visitor services and event operations, including recruiting, hiring, training, and retaining staff to maintain an efficient and welcoming environment.
This position involves extensive coordination with various stakeholders, including city personnel, community partners such as the Friends of the Farmstead and the Arts and Recreation Foundation of Overland Park, sponsors, and the public. The Supervisor will lead the development, planning, promotion, and administration of City-sponsored special events and programs at the Farmstead. Responsibilities also include managing group reservations for birthday parties, corporate functions, school trips, and other activities. Additionally, the role requires budget management, grant writing support, marketing coordination with multiple communications teams, and active participation in fundraising efforts. 
Applicants for this role should be prepared to work flexible hours necessary to fulfill all assigned duties, with punctuality and professionalism expected in meeting deadlines, attendance, and communications. The position offers a salary range of $52,832.67 to $58,116.35 and full-time benefits. This opportunity is ideal for an experienced event management professional with strong leadership, communication, organizational, and customer service skills who is passionate about community engagement and delivering memorable visitor experiences. The position requires successful completion of a background check, drug screen, physical exam, and essential functions test, and applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
                - Bachelor's degree in event management, parks and recreation or public administration or equivalent education and experience
 - possession of an appropriate and valid driver's license
 - must maintain an insurable driving record
 - three years' experience in event management, parks and recreation or related fields
 - supervisory experience preferred
 - ability to work in extreme environmental conditions
 - ability to stand and walk excessively
 - ability to reach, bend, stoop and climb
 - ability to identify and distinguish colors
 - ability to make and receive phone calls
 - ability to speak to individuals or groups for extended periods
 - ability to operate office equipment such as copy machine, fax machine, and personal computer
 - ability to operate city vehicles including cars, trucks and golf carts
