Sterility Assurance Specialist - $18 to $30 per HOUR

This includes performing regular equipment checks, maintaining detailed records and logs, and assisting with cleaning and turnover of surgery suites. The technician also supports the surgical team by educating staff on the latest sterile processing protocols and techniques, thus contributing to the continuous improvement of the operating environment. The position requires a proactive individual who can work independently with minimal supervision while prioritizing tasks efficiently to meet the demands of the surgical schedule. Effective communication skills are essential since the technician must interact with a variety of healthcare professionals. Certification in sterile processing is mandatory either prior to employment or attained within 24 months of employment, reinforcing the center's commitment to professional development and maintaining high regulatory standards. Experience with surgical instrumentation and knowledge of sterile wrapping techniques such as single and double wrapping and using peel pouches is also crucial. • High school diploma or equivalent
• Certification in sterile processing required or obtained 24 months after employment
• Demonstrated interpersonal communication skills required to facilitate effective interaction with a variety of health care professionals
• Significant prior knowledge and experience working with surgical instrumentation and equipment required
• Prior experience working with an instrument tray system and sterile wrapping techniques including single and double wrapping, peel pouches required
• Ability to work with a minimum of supervision and to organize work in order of importance, prioritizing to achieve unit and center goals
• Familiarity with medical terminology preferred or required to complete a course in medical terminology
• Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and percentages
• Knowledge of sterility in the operating room
• Maintain knowledge of industry standards by attending in-services by the state association
