The role open at St. Luke's Home is a part-time Cook position with rotating shifts. This role is pivotal in ensuring the culinary needs of residents, staff, and visitors are met with high standards of quality and nutrition. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing, seasoning, and cooking food items following established recipes and menus tailored to both regular and diet-specific requirements. Responsibilities include measuring and mixing ingredients, utilizing various kitchen utensils and equipment, and performing taste tests to guarantee food is seasoned correctly and cooked thoroughly. Attention to detail is critical as the cook will need to ensure timely preparation of menu items, manage food inventory, and maintain clean and sanitary work environments. This position involves working closely with the Food Service Director and diet aides, including assuming leadership responsibilities in the director's absence. The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of basic cooking techniques, an ability to work efficiently in a busy kitchen setting, and a commitment to providing an enjoyable dining experience for all who reside or work at St. Luke's Home. - High school level of educational development
- Up to one year of basic technical training in cooking techniques
- One to two years of previous work related experience
- Three months or less of on-the-job training and orientation
