The role of Director of Events & Event Services at Hyatt is a highly visible and strategic position within hotel operations. Reporting directly to the General Manager, the Director of Events acts as a key member of the property’s Executive Committee, working closely with senior and corporate leadership to ensure excellence in event management and sales. This leadership role oversees the entire Event Sales and Event Planning function, as well as the Event Services Department, ensuring standards are not only met but exceeded. The Director is responsible for managing a team of Event Managers and administrative staff, focusing on effective training, coaching, and performance management. This individual takes charge of both short and long-term planning related to event sales, marketing initiatives, and departmental budgets. They develop innovative and strategic plans that aim to maximize catering revenues while maintaining or exceeding budgeted sales and profits across all event areas. The Director must demonstrate expertise in evaluating event business opportunities, ensuring that each event can be serviced to Hyatt’s high standards. Collaboration with culinary teams to create creative and innovative menus tailored to the kitchen’s capabilities, and pricing specialty offerings, is an integral part of the role. Additionally, the Director oversees the daily operations of the Event Services team, working closely with the Banquet Manager to guarantee quality and consistency in banquet setups and event execution. As a leader, the Director fosters long-term, value-based customer relationships to promote sustained business growth. The role requires a service-oriented and entrepreneurial leader who is an effective communicator and motivator, capable of delivering exceptional customer service and driving profitable business results. This position demands excellent organizational, interpersonal, and administrative skills, alongside proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel. The Director of Events & Event Services plays a pivotal part in Hyatt’s mission to deliver outstanding hospitality experiences and maintain the company’s reputation as a premier destination for events and gatherings.
  • Bachelor's degree in hospitality, business administration or related field preferred
  • Minimum six years progressive experience in hotel event sales and planning
  • Experience managing event sales teams and event services departments
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities
  • Proven track record of achieving event sales goals and profitability
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to develop and implement marketing strategies
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word and Excel
  • Exceptional organizational and administrative skills
  • Availability to work flexible hours including weekends and evenings
