The Fort Gordon Business Operations Division is a key entity functioning within the Department of Defense, specifically serving the Fort Gordon military community. This division is responsible for providing a broad range of support services that enhance the quality of life for military personnel, civilians, and their families stationed at Fort Gordon. As part of Army Non-Appropriated Funds (NAF) employment, jobs offered within this division promote community service and support, contributing directly to the overall mission of the Department of Defense. Army NAF employment brings numerous benefits such as professional development opportunities, access to on-base facilities, and participation in various insurance and retirement plans. The work environment often fosters pride and fulfillment as employees contribute to the welfare of military communities. The position available in the Fort Gordon Business Operations Division is that of a Banquet Server. This role primarily involves waiter duties, but with simpler procedural requirements compared to positions in restaurants, cafés, or bars. The banquet server works under the close supervision of a banquet supervisor or leader who provides specific instructions on tasks to be performed. Key responsibilities include servicing banquets by either handling set menu arrangements or taking individual orders from guests. The role requires physical activity such as standing, walking, stooping, and stretching for extended periods while managing food and beverage trays and food containers that seldom weigh more than 40 pounds. The position offers an engaging work environment with opportunities to assist in setting up and breaking down banquet settings and replenishing beverages during events. Applicants for this position should note the employment type is seasonal and part of the Federal Wage Schedule (FWS) pay system. Employees may receive overtime pay for hours worked beyond standard daily or weekly limits, along with premium pay for Sunday work and extra pay for late afternoon or evening shifts. The role is ideal for candidates who thrive in service-oriented jobs and enjoy interacting with guests during social or formal events. There is no formal education requirement or previous work experience needed, making it accessible to entry-level candidates who can follow simple oral and written instructions. Candidates must meet legal age requirements for serving alcoholic beverages and be capable of the physical demands of the job. Work hours may include nights, weekends, and holidays, and the position may require occasional outdoor work during seasonal events. Potential applicants are encouraged to carefully review job qualifications and requirements to ensure eligibility, and those claiming preference as current or former NAF or APF employees must provide appropriate documentation. Overall, this role offers a valuable entry point for those interested in banquet service within a reputable federal operation that supports military families and operations at Fort Gordon.
