The EVS Tech 1 role within the Environmental Services department is pivotal to maintaining a safe, hygienic, and aesthetically pleasing care environment critical for patient safety and infection control. This on-site position requires working Monday through Friday from 5:00 am to 1:30 pm at the Fairview location. The role involves executing daily cleaning and disinfection duties in patient care areas, clinical and ancillary spaces, and public zones to meet stringent cleanliness and infection prevention standards set by the Association for Health Care Environment (AHE). With an hourly pay rate of $23, the EVS Tech 1 helps ensure that every space contributes to a healing atmosphere for children and their families. An EVS Technician 1 is accountable for thorough cleaning of patient rooms, common areas, floors, bathrooms, and specialized fixtures. They assist in infection prevention by following proper hygiene protocols, adhering to HIPAA privacy regulations, and using personal protective equipment correctly. The position demands interaction with visitors, patients, and staff in a respectful and professional manner, adapting communication to the diverse needs of the pediatric population. Additionally, the role includes maintaining cleaning equipment, managing supply inventories, proper waste disposal, and responding promptly to urgent cleaning requests such as spills. EVS Tech 1 contributes to a culture of safety and quality by identifying and correcting unsatisfactory cleanliness issues and supporting organizational standards. This position is ideal for individuals with a minimum of six months of related experience and a high school diploma or equivalent, though these qualifications are preferred rather than mandatory. Candidates with certification from the Association for Health Care Environment, such as the Certified Health Care Environmental Services Technician (CHEST) or Certified Surgical Cleaning Technician (CSCT), are especially valued. The ability to effectively use computers or mobile devices for job performance activities is also preferred.
