The Food Runner AM (Part-Time) position at Urban Farmer is essential to maintaining the seamless and efficient operation of our dining service. This role is focused on ensuring the timely delivery of food to guests and upholding the highest standards of plate presentation and food quality. As a Food Runner, you will be expected to have complete knowledge of the restaurant’s table and station numbers, room capacity, hours of operation, proper table setups, and the restaurant’s dress code. You will also maintain comprehensive knowledge of all departmental policies and service procedures, as well as the various liquor brands, wines, beers, and non-alcoholic beverages offered, including their appropriate glassware and garnishes.
Beyond this, a Food Runner must understand all menu items—covering prices, preparation methods, major ingredients, and quality standards related to taste, appearance, texture, serving temperature, portion size, and garnish. Compliance with state liquor regulations, particularly those that prohibit service to minors and intoxicated persons, is mandatory. The role also necessitates familiarity with the correct maintenance and use of restaurant equipment and the ability to assist other employees and departments to contribute to the overall success of the restaurant and hotel operations.
This position requires physical stamina and detail-oriented efficiency, as the job involves lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying weights up to 50 pounds regularly, balancing, stooping, kneeling, and continuous standing during preparation and service hours. Strong communication skills in English are necessary for interaction with guests, coworkers, and management. - Ability to satisfactorily communicate in English (speak, read, write) with guests, co-workers and management to their understanding
