The role of Sous Chef at Oak View Group is a pivotal position essential to the effective and profitable operation of its culinary services. This role involves actively supervising, coaching, counseling, directing, training, and mentoring the kitchen staff to meet and surpass company quality standards. The Sous Chef acts as a key driver in fostering a positive, harmonious, compliant, and cooperative work environment by managing all aspects of employee relations independently. This position demands open availability with a flexible schedule that includes evenings and weekends due to its event-driven nature.
The Sous Chef must demonstrate strong leadership and management skills combined with independent decision-making capabilities. Core to this role is maintaining excellent attendance, professional presentation, and outstanding interpersonal communication skills. The individual will be responsible for food preparation, staff scheduling, inventory management, and ensuring adherence to food safety standards and company policies. Collaborating closely with the Executive Chef, the Sous Chef ensures quality, consistency, and concept compliance in all kitchen operations.
From supervising all line set-up and breakdown activities to mentoring kitchen staff and maintaining a clean kitchen environment, this role is both hands-on and strategic. It requires the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards for food quality, safety, and presentation. The compensation for this position ranges from $26.00 to $29.00 hourly, and full-time employees enjoy benefits such as health, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) savings plan with matching, and paid time off including vacation days, sick days, and 11 holidays.

- High school diploma or equivalent GED
- Minimum of 3 years supervisory experience in an upscale banquet, hotel or convention center kitchen
- State issued Health Certificate and required immunizations
- Serve Safe certification
- Ability to work flexible hours including nights and weekends
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive hand movements
- Capability to lift, push, pull or carry heavy objects
- Good sense of taste and smell
- Strong computer skills with MS Word, Excel and Outlook
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to maintain high concentration and work in a fast-paced environment
