The role of the Sous Chef at Westminster Communities is critical to the success of the dining services department. The Sous Chef works directly under the Chef or Dining Services Director, playing a vital leadership role in the daily operations of the kitchen and supporting the planning, coordination, and implementation of a quality dining program. This program is designed not only to meet the expectations of residents but also to uphold rigorous standards of safety, sanitation, and culinary excellence. The Sous Chef is responsible for overseeing the culinary components of the dining services, including the HACCP program and sanitation initiatives to ensure compliance with health codes and food safety regulations.
In this role, the Sous Chef supervises kitchen staff and operations, ensuring adherence to standardized recipes and proper food preparation techniques. The position requires hands-on involvement in food production, including preparing soups, sauces, and gravies, while maintaining a high level of food quality and consistency.
