The Sous Chef II position plays a critical role in upholding the highest culinary standards, ensuring that every meal served meets Sunrise's exacting expectations for quality, presentation, and resident satisfaction. This role is essential in supporting the Executive Chef III by managing daily food preparation, supervision of kitchen staff, and enhancing the overall dining experience for residents. Beyond the back-of-house responsibilities, the Sous Chef II actively engages with residents during meal service, providing table touches, responding to feedback, and fostering an enjoyable and positive atmosphere. In this capacity, the Sous Chef II ensures meticulous attention to food presentation, creativity in plating, and adherence to strict portion control and cost management techniques. Maintaining compliance with safety standards such as Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) protocols and food sanitation certifications is a priority to guarantee safe and hygienic food handling. The position also includes duties related to inventory management, food ordering, and collaboration with dining teams to facilitate special events, banquets, and community activities. The Sous Chef II serves as both a leader and mentor within the kitchen, providing guidance, training, and performance support to culinary staff to cultivate a culture of culinary excellence and continuous improvement. • Ability to work weekends, evenings and flexible hours, available for our customers at peak service delivery days and times
• Certification and/or college degree in culinary arts preferred
• Minimum three (3) years' experience as a chef
• Maintains current food services sanitation certificate
• ServeSafe certified
• Demonstration of proficiency in computer skills, Microsoft Office (Windows, Outlook, Excel) and Sunrise applications with the ability to learn new applications
