The Blackberry Sommelier is a salaried leadership role that forms a critical part of the establishment’s expansive spirits and wine program. This role involves daily interactive tastings with guests and collaboration with the restaurant team to enhance the overall dining experience. The Sommelier connects patrons with small-batch wine and spirit producers from regions including California, Italy, Spain, France, Germany, and further afield, ensuring guests enjoy unique and memorable wine journeys throughout their visit. The position requires consistent learning through tasting a broad range of boutique wines and spirits, as well as maintaining ongoing relationships with wine producers and chefs featured in Blackberry Farm’s celebrated food and wine events.
The Sommelier works closely with the front-of-house service staff, assuming a leadership role during dinner service to uphold Blackberry Farm’s high standards. Embracing teamwork and a positive attitude, the Sommelier helps train the service team on wine, spirits, and cocktails, supporting one unified goal: delivering exceptional service. Key responsibilities include leading tastings, providing expert floor service, managing wine inventory and restocking, participating in beverage counts, and fostering educational opportunities for staff. The role demands a cooperative approach with excellent communication skills to engage guests and team members alike. Physical requirements include the ability to lift up to 50 pounds and remain on feet for extended periods, highlighting the role’s active and dynamic nature.
