The role available is for a Site Safety Manager based in the Indianapolis area, tasked with overseeing all safety-related project metrics during the On-Site Phase of installation projects. This position plays a critical safety leadership role, having authority over the project team's safety compliance and enforcement. The Site Safety Manager ensures the delivery of projects by monitoring mechanical and electrical installations, overseeing the start-up and software installation processes, and acting as the primary safety liaison among subcontractors, employees, and site management. These positions require extensive travel within the service regions, with up to 100 percent travel anticipated, demanding a candidate with flexibility and dedication.
As a Site Safety Manager, the individual will be responsible for conducting rigorous risk assessments, coordinating health, safety, and environmental prevention and mitigation measures, and leading regular safety meetings. They will handle accident reporting, cease unsafe work activities when necessary, and rigorously enforce safety regulations to maintain compliance with all relevant federal, state, and local laws. This role entails managing the Knapp Safety Portal, performing daily and weekly site audits, issuing work permits, and ensuring the display of required statutory notices and emergency instructions. Continuous improvement through training and adherence to occupational health and safety legal requirements form a significant part of the role.
The position requires a candidate with a strong background in occupational health and safety, demonstrated by OSHA 500 (Construction) or OSHA 501 (General Industry) certification. Ownership of valid driver’s license, ability to lift between 50-100 pounds, and professional office and site etiquette are mandatory. The Site Safety Manager is expected to exhibit leadership by reinforcing team approaches, managing change, and ensuring effective communication with all project stakeholders. Engagement with training development and compliance review activities is also a vital responsibility, aiming to uphold KNAPP’s high standards of safety and excellence.
