This position involves providing attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable service by assisting customers with their questions and making product recommendations through suggestive selling. Working closely with the Food Service Manager, the clerk supports daily operations to maintain a clean, organized, and visually appealing department. This role places a strong emphasis on food safety and proper handling procedures to ensure the high-quality standards ShopRite is known for are consistently met. The Food Service Clerk is responsible for preparing products such as salads, sandwiches, chicken, pizza, pasta entrees, and catering orders in accordance with company recipes and standards. Maintaining the correct temperatures for food storage and display, managing inventory through stocking and rotation, and ensuring all signage accurately describes product choices are important aspects of the role.\n\nIn addition to direct customer interaction and food preparation, the Food Service Clerk must operate various kitchen and food service equipment safely and effectively, including slicers, scales, ovens, rotisseries, and fryolators. The role requires physical stamina to stand for long periods, lift heavy items regularly, and work in varying temperature environments. Employees in this position must strictly comply with local, state, and federal health, safety, and sanitation regulations, as well as company policies regarding uniforms, grooming, and hygiene.
