The role of Shift Leader II at Vanderlande is crucial in maintaining the operational integrity of the baggage handling system at the St. Louis International Airport. This full-time position requires working Wednesday through Saturday during evening and late-night shifts. The Shift Leader will primarily act as the main responder to emergency situations relating to the mechanical systems of the baggage handling infrastructure. They will carry out both preventive and corrective maintenance at the mechanical level while supervising a team of technicians. The position demands a hands-on leader who can independently manage complex systems, interpret engineering drawings, and communicate effectively with various internal and external stakeholders, including operators, management, and customers.
The Shift Leader II’s responsibilities include inspecting and diagnosing complex mechanical and electrical systems, performing scheduled maintenance tasks, monitoring the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS), and ensuring compliance with safety standards and contract quality requirements. The candidate will also support the maintenance manager in daily operations and step in as the acting manager when necessary. Managing supply levels, coordinating vendor interactions, and driving continuous improvement initiatives are critical elements of the role. This position demands strong leadership, superior technical skills, and the ability to handle pressure effectively in a highly dynamic and fast-paced airport environment.
Physically, the role is demanding and requires the ability to work in a variety of challenging conditions such as secured baggage handling areas and airfields. The employee must be capable of performing physically intensive activities, including lifting heavy items, climbing, kneeling, and working in confined or awkward positions. A thorough understanding of OSHA and safety regulations is essential to ensure a safe working environment. - Minimum 5 year technical experienced in an industrial environment
- Working experience with mechanical, electrical and controls (PLC, PC) systems
- 2 years of prior experience as a Lead Technician
