The role of Service Restaurant Host / Hostess is integral to the dining experience Panda Restaurant Group offers. Hired personnel serve as the welcoming presence at the front of the restaurant, responsible for ensuring that guests are greeted promptly and courteously from the moment they arrive until their departure. This position involves managing seating arrangements to optimize guest turnover and service quality effectively. The host or hostess guides guests to tables, provides menus, and attends to any special seating requests. Moreover, the role includes responding to basic menu inquiries and promptly communicating any special needs to servers or management. Phone duties such as answering calls, confirming reservations, and processing take-out orders require accuracy and efficiency. In addition to front-of-house duties, the host/hostess supports servers with beverage service and helps maintain cleanliness in the dining area, ensuring a smooth and pleasant dining environment.
Candidates should be at least 18 years old to comply with alcohol service regulations and preferably have a high school diploma or its equivalent. Previous experience in restaurants or customer service enhances candidacy, though thorough training is provided to facilitate success in this fast-paced role. Strong verbal communication skills and a courteous, professional demeanor are essential. A neat and presentable appearance combined with good personal hygiene are also important for the role. Flexibility in scheduling along with the ability to work efficiently under dynamic conditions is critical to meet the demands of a busy dining establishment. Compensation for this role ranges from $16.50 to $23.10 per hour, depending on the candidate’s experience and qualifications.
