American Cruise Lines is the largest U.S. cruise company specializing in unique river and coastal explorations across America. Known for its commitment to delivering memorable cruising experiences, the company operates a fleet of the finest American ships that sail to over 50 itineraries spanning more than 35 states. The company prides itself on its core values of optimism, commitment, patriotism, and merit — principles that guide every aspect of its operations and cultural ethos. Each cruise offers guests elegant, relaxing, and authentic voyages bringing them closer to America’s diverse landscapes and heritage. American Cruise Lines hires passionate individuals eager to become part of this distinguished traveling community and share America's story through attentive and personalized hospitality. The Server role within American Cruise Lines is a pivotal position aboard the ships for the 2026 cruising season. This is a temporary assignment lasting approximately 28 weeks, where the successful candidate will contribute to the hospitality department by providing outstanding dining services in the shipboard hotel and restaurant. Servers act not only as food and beverage attendants but also as vital ambassadors of the brand, engaging with guests to create a luxurious and memorable dining atmosphere. This position demands a strong work ethic, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment that celebrates teamwork and dedication. Throughout the 28-week cruise season, servers are responsible for setting up and breaking down each meal service, including breakfast, lunch, dinner, and cocktail hours. They ensure that tables are elegantly arranged with appropriate linen, china, glassware, and silverware to meet high hospitality standards. Servers address all culinary requests with efficiency and professionalism, assist guests by presenting menus, suggesting courses and wines, and answering questions regarding meal selections. Precise communication with the galley is essential to relay orders and guarantee that food and beverages are served beautifully and on time. Beyond routine duties, servers may also assist during special events on the ship such as greeting guests upon embarkation, serving afternoon teas and snacks, and supporting evening entertainment events. This role requires an individual who is physically capable of meeting the demands of the job including lifting, bending, standing for extended periods, and maneuvering through the ship’s environment. Employees must be able to commit to long working hours—typically 12-hour shifts for seven days a week, reflecting the rigorous pace of life on board. American Cruise Lines provides comprehensive support by covering major living expenses such as travel to and from the ship, room and board, uniforms, and paid training, making it easier for employees to focus on delivering impeccable guest service. Compensation ranges from $1,000 to $1,400 per week with additional bonuses, offering a unique opportunity to save money given the onboard expenses are minimized. Working with American Cruise Lines offers not only financial and professional growth but the chance to forge lasting relationships and create unforgettable experiences while traveling throughout the country. The company is an equal opportunity employer that fosters a welcoming and inclusive workplace, seeking individuals who share its proud values and dedication to excellence. This position is ideal for those seeking a foundation in hospitality with potential career advancement paths within the cruise line's management hierarchy, although managerial positions are not guaranteed. To maintain the highest standards of safety and service, employees undergo mandatory pre-employment drug testing and participate in emergency safety training programs integrated into their onboarding. Servers represent the heart of guest interaction and contribute significantly to the overall guest experience on America’s leading small ship cruise line.
