The Senior Sous Chef or Senior Kitchen Manager or Chef De Cuisine at P.F. Chang's plays a pivotal role in leading the culinary team and managing daily kitchen operations to ensure high standards of food quality and service. Reporting directly to the Executive Chef, this leadership role requires hands-on management and active participation in food preparation, menu execution, and culinary staff mentorship. You will lead a high-volume, fast-paced kitchen, providing clear directions and ensuring guest satisfaction through memorable culinary experiences. This role also involves developing team members professionally, fostering a positive workplace culture, assisting with staffing needs such as scheduling and hiring, and maintaining stringent safety and sanitation standards.
In addition to operational leadership, the Senior Sous Chef assists with cost controls, inventory management, and works to maximize financial success for the restaurant. This role demands a highly organized individual with strong culinary skills, the ability to work efficiently under pressure, and a passion for mentoring others. The position is full-time and offers competitive pay ranging from $58,887.40 to $73,158.80 annually, which translates to approximately $20.59 to $25.58 per hour, assuming a 50-hour workweek. The position is non-exempt, reflecting the practical demands of a bustling kitchen environment.

- 3+ years of prior culinary or restaurant leadership experience
- Experience working in a hands-on, fast paced, high volume environment
- Experience mentoring and training hourly team members
- Exposure to managing inventory, cost of goods and overall control of financials
- Must be able to stand and walk for periods of eight to ten hours in length each shift
- Must be able to reach, bend, balance and transport various objects weighing up to 30 lbs repeatedly during a shift
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs at times
- Must be able to operate kitchen equipment including a wok, mixer, slicer, and buffalo chopper
- Must have the ability to use knives appropriately and maintain their integrity
- Must be able to work around various levels of temperature including warm to very warm temperatures in the kitchen
