The primary responsibility of the Cook is to perform journeyman-level food preparation in a campus kitchen environment, working under the supervision of the Chef de Cuisine. The role involves preparing a variety of food items including made-to-order stations, grill items, grab-and-go food, salad dressings, sauces, and produce cleaning. The Cook supports the preparation and service of up to 1,500 meals per shift, adhering to high standards of food quality, sanitation, safety, and customer service. Training and guidance are also provided to staff and student employees, fostering skill development and ensuring compliance with food safety and allergen protocols. For Senior Cooks, in addition to basic cooking duties, responsibilities extend to the preparation of quality food for dining services and catering operations. Senior Cooks oversee the efficient operation and maintenance of kitchen equipment and ensure compliance with departmental standards related to food handling, hygiene, cleanliness, safety, and personal appearance. This role requires coordination during food production and presentation, quality control, and assisting with training employees in the preparation of complex recipes.
