The Inflight Duty Manager plays a critical role within Alaska Airlines as a vital part of the Network Operations Center (NOC). This position involves overseeing all aspects of inflight operations, including current, contingent, and emergency scenarios. Acting as the main point of contact for all inflight-related matters, the Inflight Duty Manager collaborates closely with multiple stakeholders such as the Network Director, Flight Operations, Crew Scheduling, hotel and ground transportation services, and Security, among others. The goal is to ensure the safety and efficiency of flight attendants, promoting an on-time and safe operation 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
The role demands a proactive approach in managing day-to-day inflight operations, responding swiftly to crises or irregular operations, and making decisions on behalf of inflight leadership outside regular business hours. This includes utilizing feedback and monitoring service levels at various bases to drive continuous improvements in flight attendant service. The Inflight Duty Manager brings in-depth knowledge of company policies, collective bargaining agreements (CBA), Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs), and procedures relevant to flight operations for all fleet types.
Additionally, the duty manager participates in ongoing training to maintain proficiency, supports projects and meetings with assigned collateral duties, and acts as a liaison between the inflight services division and other departments to ensure cohesive communication and consistent service delivery. This role requires strong operational insight, problem-solving skills, and the ability to mentor and support frontline employees during both normal operations and emergencies.
This is a full-time, exempt position with a competitive salary range of $84,500 to $126,750 per year, dependent on location, experience, and skillset. - Four years of experience in customer service, inflight services, or related function
- Bachelor’s degree preferred or additional two years of relevant training or experience
- Ability to complete Alaska Airlines initial training and hold FAA flight attendant certificate
- Proven ability to problem solve in fast-paced situations
- Demonstrated coaching and mentoring skills
- Strong independent and team work skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience with operational control systems
- Ability to write reports and professional correspondence
- Ability to interpret instructions
- Physical ability to remain standing for long periods
- Willingness to fly as crew member during irregular operations
