YMCA Buffalo Niagara is currently hiring for multiple positions within its School Age Child Care Program, located both inside YMCA facilities and elementary schools across various Western New York areas including Buffalo, Amherst, Clarence, Kenmore, Tonawanda, Lancaster, Depew, Eden, Lockport, Lewiston-Porter, Orchard Park, and Hamburg. This program is designed to provide a safe, nurturing, and educational environment for school-aged children before and after school hours, promoting their social, emotional, and cognitive development.
The role of the School Age Child Care Program Assistant is integral to delivering high-quality care and facilitating engaging lesson plans for groups of children. Employees in this position work Monday through Friday during before and after school hours, averaging about 20 hours per week, with possibilities for additional hours. This part-time role is ideal for individuals seeking meaningful work that positively impacts children’s lives while balancing other personal or professional commitments.
The School Age Child Care Program Assistant is responsible for helping create an environment that is both creative and stimulating, adhering strictly to safety protocols and cleanliness standards to ensure the wellbeing of all participants. The position requires direct supervision, leadership, and positive engagement with children, parents, school staff, and YMCA colleagues. Assistants are expected to complete all necessary certifications, including background clearances mandated by the New York State Office of Children and Family Services, and participate in ongoing training sessions and staff meetings to continuously enhance their skills and program quality.
