The role of Air Import Agent at DHL Global Forwarding, based in San Diego, California, is pivotal in managing the movement and coordination of customers' air import shipments. This position acts as the primary point of contact, facilitating smooth communication and operational flow between customers, customs brokers, and shipping carriers. The Air Import Agent is responsible for executing orders by confirming arrival times, coordinating with customs brokerage, inputting data, and dispatching deliveries efficiently. Building strong relationships with customers by promptly responding to emails, faxes, and mail communications is essential to deliver exceptional customer service. This role entails working closely with air carriers and ground transportation partners to handle shipment logistics and ensure timely delivery. Additionally, the Air Import Agent manages the receipt and tracking of purchase orders from importers and overseas offices, handles all necessary shipping documentation, and is responsible for cargo release procedures and data entry for each shipment. They attend to customer inquiries in line with company service standards while proactively working to increase customer satisfaction and business share through regular communication. Monitoring freight release from air carriers, notifying customers and customs brokers about shipment arrivals and charges, and providing accurate job costing forecasts and billing are important functions of this position.
