Airgas is currently hiring a Route Driver for its Tampa, Florida location, operating out of a retail shop in the eastern part of the city. This role offers a competitive hourly rate, driver incentive pay plan to earn extra income, and a consistent Monday through Friday schedule. As the face of Airgas, the Delivery Driver is vital in ensuring the safe and efficient delivery of compressed gas cylinders to local and regional business customers. Using company-provided straight or box trucks, the driver is responsible for loading, unloading, delivering, and returning compressed gas cylinders while maintaining frequent and professional interaction with Airgas customers. This position requires adherence to all safety rules and regulations, accurate documentation, and effective communication with management and sales associates regarding any delivery issues. Duties extend to operating warehouse equipment such as pallet jacks and forklifts when needed, and performing cylinder inspections to meet strict safety standards, including Airgas's SAFECOR program and government regulations.
Working in this role demands a strong sense of responsibility, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently under pressure to meet delivery deadlines. The successful candidate must have a valid Class B Commercial Driver's License, a USDOT Medical Examiner's Certificate, a Hazmat Endorsement (H or X), and the capability to operate vehicles equipped with air brake systems. Prior professional driving experience within the last five years is essential, as is maintaining a clean driving record. Although a high school diploma or equivalent is preferred, candidates with relevant driving school diplomas or prior experience in the gas, welding, or safety supply industries are also considered.

- Must have a clean driving record with no more than two (2) convictions, or two (2) at-fault accidents in the last three (3) years, or a combination of one (1) conviction and one (1) at-fault accident
- In lieu of experience, may accept a diploma from accredited driving school or combination of driving and prior Airgas specific experience
