Shell is a global group of energy and petrochemical companies, with a rich history of over 100 years in the United States. Headquartered in Texas, Shell is a leader in energy solutions, providing millions of Americans with the energy needed for heating, cooling, and powering economic activities. Shell operates across all 50 states, with assets ranging from deep-water platforms in the Gulf of Mexico to extensive pipeline networks and chemical complexes. The company boasts a significant presence in retail through its 13,000 branded service stations and is renowned for its Pennzoil® motor oil brand, a leader in the U.S. market. Shell is committed to innovation and sustainability, actively working towards net-zero carbon emissions while maintaining its essential role in providing reliable oil and gas supplies for decades to come. The Advisor position within Trade Controls (Customs) and Financial/Energy Regulations plays a crucial role in supporting Shell’s Trading and Supply business unit. Reporting to the Regulation Manager, this role is centered on ensuring compliance with customs and financial regulations by managing workflows, processes, and tools aligned with local legislation and global customs policies. This position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to a leading energy sector company by driving compliance excellence, fostering regulatory awareness, and supporting operational efficiency within customs and financial regulatory frameworks. The Advisor will be tasked with implementing and managing Shell Trading Customs policies, focusing on non-preferential and preferential origin management, including detailed oversight of certificates of origin. This reflects the critical nature of supporting trade compliance related to customs classification of commodities and the management of products subject to trade defense measures such as anti-dumping and anti-subsidy regulations. The role requires collaboration with various internal teams, including IT, to enhance customs compliance efforts through technology and system improvements. Furthermore, the advisor will develop compliance documentation, training materials, and provide frontline import/export support while acting as the first escalation point for the Customs and Excise team. In addition to customs oversight, the role encompasses supporting financial and energy regulatory compliance, including assisting with CFTC regulations and response to regulatory inquiries from exchanges. The candidate will also play an active role in internal audits, risk assessments, and assurance activities to maintain robust compliance standards. This role demands excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to communicate diplomatically, and the capacity to build collaborative relationships across multiple functions and levels within the organization. Shell is committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive work environment, supporting employee growth, career progression, and work-life balance. The company provides competitive compensation, including a salary range of $113,000 to $169,000 annually, comprehensive benefits, and opportunities for professional development. Employees benefit from insurance coverage, pension plans, paid leave, disability programs, and wellness incentives, making Shell an employer of choice in the energy sector. Joining Shell means becoming part of a global team dedicated to sustainable energy transitions and technological advancement while upholding values of honesty, integrity, and respect.
