The General Manager (GM) role at Thorntons is a pivotal leadership position responsible for managing all aspects of store operations to ensure exceptional guest satisfaction. The GM oversees the daily execution of store operations, financial performance, team management, and regulatory compliance. This role involves driving sales growth, controlling costs, managing inventory, and ensuring food safety and quality standards are consistently met within a clean and safe environment. The GM is instrumental in fostering a welcoming atmosphere for both guests and team members, promoting team cohesion, and cultivating a strong safety culture guided by the philosophy of "Believing in Zero" accidents.
In addition, the GM is responsible for developing and coaching team members to provide outstanding service while supporting their career growth and maintaining a stable and staffed environment. This is achieved through effective training, recognition, and accountability measures. The position requires a hands-on leader who leads by example, actively listens and resolves conflicts, and uses analytical skills to identify and address business challenges. Maintaining compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, building community partnerships, and representing the Thorntons brand positively are also key elements of the role.

- High school diploma or GED
- Minimum three years single-unit management experience in retail and or food and beverage industries
- Reliable transportation
- Ability to obtain Food Safety and Handling Certifications if not currently certified
- Valid driver's license preferred
- Ability to climb ladders and perform physical activities such as standing, pushing, pulling, reaching, bending, squatting, climbing, walking, and lifting up to 55 lbs
- Able to work in extreme weather conditions and tolerate exposure to gasoline fumes and cleaning products
- Regular and predictable in-person attendance
- Compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations
