This position is within the Custodial/Grounds department, playing a crucial role in the upkeep, cleanliness, and maintenance of these district-owned buildings and facilities. This full-time custodian position offers an hourly wage ranging from $18.70 to $23.47, with an additional $0.50 per hour shift differential for all hours worked after 7:00 PM. The work schedule is based on a CL-12 schedule, covering 260 days per school year, Monday through Friday from 2:45 PM to 11:15 PM, ensuring consistent custodial services in the evening hours. The role involves performing a variety of standardized custodial tasks, including sweeping, mopping, sanitizing, trash disposal, floor maintenance involving waxing and buffing, and securing buildings at the end of the day. The position reports technically to a lead custodian and receives supervision from either a building administrator or site-based administrator. Unlike Custodial Technicians, this position does not typically serve as relief for the Custodial/Maintenance Coordinator. Candidates do not need prior custodial experience but should bring a willingness to learn and adapt to a dynamic work environment. Experience in customer service, grounds-keeping, manual labor, or working with or around children will be considered favorably. Physical stamina is important, as the role requires lifting weights between 25 to 75 pounds and performing tasks requiring manual labor and use of mechanical equipment. Essential functions of the job include sweeping floors, vacuuming carpets, emptying wastebaskets, cleaning chalkboards, mopping and sanitizing restrooms, locker rooms, kitchens, and hallways, replenishing soaps and paper products, maintaining gym floors and switching on scheduled nighttime activities safely. Other duties involve locking and securing buildings and performing floor care including stripping, waxing, and buffing floors throughout the premises. The custodian must maintain regular timely attendance and perform related tasks as assigned.
