Sidelines is a popular late-night dining option on campus, renowned for providing a vibrant social atmosphere enriched with entertainment and student-led programming. The student organization known as the Sideliners orchestrates a variety of weekly events, including karaoke nights, Just Dance sessions, watch parties, and UFC fight viewings. These events are designed to foster community engagement, encourage student participation, and create a lively campus culture that complements the university experience. UCO, a public university committed to student success, excellence in education, and community involvement, provides this student labor position to empower students with practical experience in event coordination and hospitality services. This seasonal, regular student labor position requires a dedicated individual who can manage the operational and entertainment aspects of Sidelines' event programming, particularly focusing on karaoke and trivia nights. As the Sidelines Student Event Coordinator, you will be at the heart of student-driven entertainment on campus. Your primary responsibility revolves around the planning, execution, and follow-up of one of the two weekly events scheduled at Sidelines. The role demands a proactive approach to coordinating event logistics such as equipment setup, sound testing, and event hosting. You will be instrumental in marketing these events to maximize student engagement and ensure smooth program delivery. Beyond the festivities, you will be responsible for post-event duties including clean-up and proper shutdown procedures, as well as communication with campus facility management to address any issues or suggestions for improvement. This position is physically demanding, requiring the ability to perform heavy, manual labor, and requires a reliable, punctual, and service-oriented individual committed to creating a fun and organized event environment. The position demands working approximately 5 hours per week primarily on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, aligning with the scheduled events. This structured schedule is designed to fit the academic commitments of students while enabling active participation in campus activities. Eligibility for this position requires enrollment as at least a half-time student during fall and spring semesters, with specific credit hour thresholds set for undergraduate and graduate students.
